This organization provides "access to the written world," something which many of us take for granted, and which all of us deserve.

The Metro Toronto Movement for Literacy is a regional network linking individuals and organizations who are concerned with literacy. They are dedicated to raising public awareness of adult literacy issues, and maintain a community presence through the media, event participation and community partnerships.

Since 1978, the organization has pursued activities in the following areas:

  • Public Education
  • Information and Referral
  • Professional Development
  • Community Planning
  • Research and Development
  • Membership Communications

If you would like to help someone access literacy resources for themselves or for someone they care about, the MTML has established the Literacy Access Network Telephone Referral Hotline. Callers will speak to a real person, who can listen carefully and provide information about literacy programs in their area.

The phone number for the Hotline is 416.961.5557
